Bray Giffin prides itself on its close working relationship with clients and offering timely advice and assistance on running and improving businesses. We are aware that clients are cost conscious but we do not want clients to be afraid to pick up the telephone to us to discuss any business issues that they may have, or to bounce their ideas off of us. Therefore, a considerable number of our services are provided under fixed price agreements, agreed in advance and which can be paid over a year. If this is not suitable then we can quote for any individual services.

Business Services


We prepare financial statements from all sources including incomplete records and accounting software packages in order to comply with obligations under the Companies Act or to enable the preparation of Self Assessment tax returns.

Our considerable experience enables these to be produced quickly and efficiently and, once completed, we meet with our clients to go through the financial statements so that they fully understand them and the tax implications.

Bookkeeping and management accounts

Good bookkeeping is essential for businesses so that they have up to date and reliable information in order that they can run their businesses efficiently and also so that they comply with the laws and regulations pertaining to business records.

We are able to provide a full in house bookkeeping service using SAGE software, or if preferred, are able to carry out the bookkeeping at the client's premises, and produce monthly, quarterly or ad hoc management accounts.  We are also happy to assist with month end or quarter end procedures to ensure that the accounts are being reconciled and the bookkeeping is being done correctly.


We have extensive audit experience and only experienced audit staff carry out our audits of limited companies and limited liability partnerships in accordance with the Companies Act or simply an organisation's own internal regulations, with the minimum disruption to your business.

Business start up and planning

We can help you start up and decide whether it is preferable for you to trade as a sole trader, partnership or limited company and ensure that all the appropriate registrations have been made with Companies House and H M Revenue and Customs.

We are also able to assist with cashflow  and profit forecasting, raising business finance, computer systems advice, strategic planning and most other areas within your business where assistance is required.

Company secretarial

We can carry out the company secretarial duties for your company which include company formations, preparation and filing of statutory returns, preparation of minutes and dividend vouchers and maintenance of statutory books.

We can also act as the company's registered office, which can offer peace of mind that all returns will be dealt with on a timely basis so no penalties are incurred.


Our comprehensive payroll service will ensure your business complies with legislation.  We can prepare payrolls for businesses with 2 staff to over 100 staff, on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis.  Our service is confidential and includes computerised payslips, administration of PAYE, national insurance, statutory sick pay, statutory maternity pay etc and completion of statutory forms, including year end returns and P11D's.

We are also experienced in dealing with Construction Industry Scheme returns, applications to register as a contractor and subcontractor and gross payment status withdrawal appeals.

Due diligence and business valuations

We are experienced in carrying out due diligence reviews with regards to business acquisitions and mergers and preparing business valuations for share schemes, buyouts or funding.

Tax Services

Value added tax

VAT is a very complicated area and there are severe financial penalties for getting it wrong! We can review your need to register, the type of scheme you use and prepare your VAT returns, as well as advise on the VAT implications of specific transactions.

Self assessment

We offer a fully comprehensive service for the completion, online submission and agreement of your Self Assessment Return.   We can help minimise your tax payments and ensure you are compliant with tax legislation.

Corporation tax

Our aim is to help businesses by making certain they act in accordance with tax legislation while ensuring they pay the minimum tax required by law. 

In order to do this we will establish the most efficient tax structure for the business, prepare tax returns in a timely and efficient manner, planning for and calculating a company's tax liability, make the most of any available reliefs, tax losses and deferment opportunities  and relieve the administrative burden of compliance with current tax legislation.

Personal tax planning

Tax legislation is becoming increasingly complex and it is therefore important that professional advice is received in order that your tax position is optimised and all compliance requirements are met.  

We are experienced in dealing with income tax, inheritance tax, capital gains tax and trusts and estates and will look to ensure that you pay the minimum amount of tax possible whilst complying with tax legislation.

Nobody wants to see a large proportion of their wealth passed to the Government upon their death.  Equally, you need to ensure you have made adequate provision for yourself and your spouse in your later years.  Estate planning is therefore very necessary and should be done as early as possible and we will look to ensure that you have the chance of taking full advantage of the tax opportunities available and thereby maximising the amount that goes to your beneficiaries.

Tax investigations

Whilst all our services are carried out in a manner designed to minimise tax investigations, unfortunately H M Revenue enquires, either Aspect enquiries (focus on specific issues) or Full enquiries (looking at the overall position) are becoming increasingly common.

We have extensive experience of dealing with enquiries on behalf of our clients and negotiated settlements that have negated any liabilities or significantly reduced what the Revenue believed was the liability.  We are able to liaise with H M Revenue and Customs on your behalf for all types of enquires including income tax, corporation tax, VAT disputes, Employer compliance disputes and CIS gross payment status appeals.

As the number of enquires increase and the cost of enquires are becoming ever more burdensome, we also offer a Fee Protection Insurance, to help mitigate the professional costs incurred in dealing with an enquiry.
